First jobs vary between regions, but career paths are closer
Claire Warzée
The professional integration of young new workers in 1999 did not occur in the same industries or according to the same methods between regions. The regions in northern France, where industry has access to numerous young workers via interim work, contrast with the regions of southern France, which are more focused on business and personal and domestic services. In the Île-de-France, new workers, who are largely employed in services to businesses, enjoy more favourable employment conditions than elsewhere. These geographical disparities reduce as the career advances: during the three years following their hiring, the stability of the worker's professional career differs little between regions.
