Professional segregation and educational democratisation

Professional segregation, still very strong in France today, is often explained as a direct result of the greatly different academic paths followed by boys and girls. This segregation affects nearly half of the labour market. Mass education and the progression of girls into higher education have not changed the situation. On the contrary, the recent developments in terms of the mixing of men and women in professions in France are essentially due to the labour market.
