Data collection was carried out in face-to-face interviews using the computer-assisted method (CAPI), during two visits from the end of April 2007 to April 2008.

It was spread over twelve months in order to take account of the seasonality that characterises mobility.

Regional extensions concern the Bretagne, Languedoc-Roussillon, Pays de Loire, Midi-Pyrénées and Île-de-France regions.

It takes place approximately every 10 years.
