The higher the level of education of a company's employees, the higher is their productivity. For example, the added value of a private sector company is 12.3% higher when its employees are on average one year more educated.

The estimated link between firm productivity and employees' level of education is stronger in medium-sized and large companies. It is also strong in retail and wholesale, manufacturing, education or arts or entertainment.

The labour cost per employee rises in line with productivity as the level of education of the workforce increases, which means that the share of value added devoted by the company to employee compensation does not depend on education. On the other hand, average net salary rises a little less quickly with the level of education (11.5% more on average for each additional year of study), probably due to the progressivity of payroll taxes.
