Every quarter, the Acemo survey measures change in the basic monthly wage (SMB) of all employees in enterprises in Metropolitan France with ten or more employees in the non-agricultural competitive sector.

The basic monthly wage (SMB) includes neither bonuses (except, as applies, the bonus linked to the reduction in working hours) nor overtime. It is a gross wage before social contributions are deducted and before social benefits are paid. This usually corresponds to the amount on the first line of the employee's wage slip.

The Acemo survey measures changes in the basic hourly wage of workers and employees (SHBOE) every quarter in firms with 10 employees or more in the non-agricultural competitive sector in Metropolitan France.

The basic hourly wage of workers and employees (SHBOE) includes neither bonuses (except, as applies, the bonus linked to the reduction of working hours) nor overtime. It is a gross wage before social contributions are deducted and before social benefits are paid. It is measured only for the population of blue collar workers.

In the Acemo survey, this is obtained by dividing the gross monthly wage (generally to be found on the first line of the wage slip) by the employee's basic monthly working hours, calculated as an average across the year (for an employee working 38 hours per week and with 23 days for reduced working time (RTT), average weekly working hours across the year are 35 hours and the basic monthly working hours are 152 hours).
