Documentation on methodology

Three administrative sources, provided monthly by CNAV (the National Pension Fund for Employees), are used to build this information system :

- DNS declaration (simplified nominative declaration) : oldest administrative source, this declaration was destined for all employers and was mandatory for the recipients of the allocation for child home watch, who was removed in 2004 and replaced by PAJE declaration (Early Childhood benefit). Authorized representative associations use his declaration.

- CESU declaration (Universal Employment Services Cheque) effective in 1993 : it eases administrative formalities about hiring, paying and declaring a home employee. In French overseas department, the TTS declaration (simplified work permit) is used instead. However, Insee does not yet receive data form TTS declaration.

-  PAJE declaration (Early Childhood benefit) : created in 2004, this declaration came with a specific recovery similar to the CESU's. It is used only for early childhood (home care or  child minders).

Every month, CNAV centralises the declarations and sends them to Insee.

Every quarter, statistical data about employees of private individuals are added to EPURE system to estimate trend indices on salaried employment.

Every year, statistical data about employees of private individuals are added to the data stemming from DADS (DADS "Grand format") to cover the whole field of the salaried employment. These data are also added to ESTEL (localised employment estimates) to estimate the annual national and local employment (employees and non-salaried people).
