This survey is an interregional (Dom) survey of national interest. It was carried out in the four DOMs by interviewing three main categories of actors: the natives of the department, the returning migrants, the natives of the department who had experienced emigration for more than six consecutive months and who were resettled there at the time of the survey, the immigrants, non-natives of the department who were settled there at the time of the survey.
This survey responds directly to the CNIS's recommendations for the national system of official statistics to take better account of the realities of the overseas departments. This is a "general population" survey living in an ordinary household. That is, among all men and women aged 18 to 79.
