Warning

These provisional results are only preliminary data. Accordingly, they should not be used for contractual revaluations. The indices published here are based on a limited set of price observations and from estimates of some rates of change for fares which are not yet available. The complete results will be published on 15 January 2025.

Over a year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 1.3% in December 2024, as in November, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. The slight rebound in prices of energy should be offset by a slightly more marked fall in the prices of manufactured goods than in November and by the slowdown in food prices, which should stabilise. Over a year, the prices of services and tobacco should move at the same rates as the previous month.

Over one month, consumer prices should increase by 0.2% in December 2024 (after ‑0.1% in November). This increase should be explained by the rise in prices of services, mainly those of transports, and, to a lesser extent, in prices of energy, especially those of petroleum products. Contrariwise, the prices of manufactured product should fall compared to November, while those of food and tobacco should be stable or almost stable compared to the previous month.

Year on year, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices should rise by 1.8% in December 2024, after +1.7% in November. Over one month, it should rise by 0.2%, after ‑0.1% in the previous month.
