Entrepreneurs in 2022 Eight out of ten entrepreneurs started an enterprise for the first time

In 2022, one million enterprises were created in France. Two thirds of the enterprises created in the first half of 2022 were created under the micro‑entrepreneur scheme.

Half of the new entrepreneurs were employed at the time of setting up their enterprise, mainly as employees in the private sector, and four out of ten enterprises were created by women. Compared to 2018, more entrepreneurs started a business for the first time and invested in a sector they were unfamiliar with. More than half of entrepreneurs started up with no investment or less than 1,000 euros.

One new enterprise in ten worked with a digital matchmaking platform. In the transport and storage sector, this practice was predominant (six out of ten enterprises).

Two-thirds of entrepreneurs are concerned about the environmental impact of their activity. Almost all of those whose activity generated waste sorted it and most of them ensured that it was reused.
