Sharp rebound in services output in April 2024 (+3.6%) Index of services production - April 2024
In April 2024, output in services increased significantly over a month (+3.6%), after three months of consecutive decline.

In April 2024, output in services increased significantly over a month (+3.6%), after three months of consecutive decline.
Over a month, output was up in almost all sectors
In April 2024, output bounced back sharply in professional, scientific and technical activities (+6.3% after ‑3.8%, all seven sub-sectors were up) and in transportation and storage (+6.4% after ‑0.3%). It started up again in administrative and support service activities (+2.6% after ‑0.1%), information-communication (+2.4% after ‑0.5%), arts, entertainment and recreation (+1.8% after ‑1.2%) and in real estate activities (+0.9% after ‑0.8%). Finally, it was down again in accommodation and food service activities (‑0.4% after ‑0.8%).

Over a year, output in services was up by 2.7%
The cumulative output of the last three months (February to April 2024) was 2.7% higher than that of the same months a year earlier. It increased significantly in information-communication (+4.9%), professional, scientific and technical activities (+3.3%), administrative and support service activities (+3.2%), arts, entertainment and recreation (+4.8%) and accommodation and food service activities (+3.4%). On the contrary, it dropped in real estate activities (‑2.7%) and more moderately in transportation and storage (‑0.2%).
Revisions
The monthly change in the services production index in March 2023 has been left unchanged at ‑1.4% (after rounding), compared to the previous release.
