In June 2024, consumer prices increased by 2.1% year on year Consumer price index - provisional results - June 2024
These provisional results are only preliminary data. Accordingly, they should not be used for contractual revaluations. The indices published here are based on a limited set of price observations and from estimates of some rates of change for fares which are not yet available. The complete results will be published on 12 July 2024.
Over a year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 2.1% in June 2024, after +2.3% in May, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. This slight fall in inflation could be explained by the slowdown in food and energy prices over the year. Year on year, prices of services, manufactured products and tobacco should rise at the same rate as in the previous month.
Over one month, consumer prices should remain almost stable in June 2024 (+0.1% after 0.0% in May). The prices for services and manufactured products should increase slightly; energy prices, particularly petroleum products, and food prices should be expected to fall. Prices for tobacco should be expected to remain stable over the month.
Year on year, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices should rise by 2.5% in June 2024, after 2.6% in May. Over one month, it should rise by 0.1%, as in the previous month.

Definition: the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) is designed for comparison of consumer price inflation between Members States of the European Union. It is computed for all households in France. The main difference between HICP and CPI is about the health costs: HICP is based on net prices of social security reimbursements and CPI is based on gross prices.
