Investments Aimed at Protecting the Environment Increase Further in 2019

In 2019, industrial establishments employing at least 20 workers pledged 1.7 billion euros to fund investments or studies aimed at protecting the environment, a 10% increase on 2018 (following +11% in 2018). This level of expenditure had not been reached since 2013.

Seventy-one percent of the expenditure came from four sectors: energy; food and agriculture; chemistry; and metallurgy. Forty-eight percent of the sums invested were aimed at combating air pollution or climate change.
