In 2018, France’s furniture production totalled €5.0 billion. Manufacturing entities tend to be relatively small and spread across the entire national territory. The number of employees has fallen by half in ten years.

France is the fifth largest producer in Europe after Germany, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom. France faces stiff competition in this sector from both European countries and China; resulting in a significant trade deficit.
