In June 2019, output slipped back sharply in the manufacturing industry (−2.2%, after +1.6%), as well as in the whole industry (−2.3%, after +2.0%).
All series are seasonally (SA) and working-day adjusted (WDA).
The commentary shows variations of subsections by decreasing contribution. The contribution of a subsection depends on the extent of the change and on its weight.

In June 2019, output slipped back sharply in the manufacturing industry (−2.2%, after +1.6%), as well as in the whole industry (−2.3%, after +2.0%).
Manufacturing output decreased slightly over the last three months (−0.3%)
Over the second quarter of 2019, manufacturing output declined (−0.3%). Output increased slightly in the whole industry (+0.3%).
Compared with the first quarter of 2019, output grew strongly in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+3.8%) and it was virtually stable in “other manufacturing”. Conversely, it decreased markedly in the manufacture of transport equipment (−2.1%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−6.4%). It was virtually stable in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.1%) and stable in that of machinery and equipment goods.

Over a year, manufacturing output increased (+1.0%)
Manufacturing output of the second quarter of 2019 increased compared to the same quarter of 2018 (+1.0%), as well as in the whole industry (+1.6%).
Over a year, output of the second quarter increased in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+5.0%), in “other manufacturing” (+1.1%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+3.8%) and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+4.4%). However, it decreased in the manufacture of transport equipment (−0.5%) and in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.2%).

In June, output slipped back markedly in “other manufacturing” (−2.6% after +2.5%)
Output fell steeply in pharmaceuticals after a strong increase in the previous month (−13.2% after +14.7%). It kept decreasing in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (−2.0% after −0.4%). It slipped back in other manufacturing, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (−1.4% after +0.8%), in manufacturing of rubber and plastics products, and other non-metallic mineral products (−1.0% after +0.9%) and in chemicals (−0.5% after +3.9%). It continued to decrease in the manufacture of textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (−0.8% after −0.3%). Conversely, it increased in the manufacture of wood, paper and printing industries (+1.7% after a virtual stability).
Output decreased strongly in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (−3.1% after +4.7%)
Output slipped back markedly in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (−3.6% after +5.3%).
Output slipped back in the manufacture of transport equipment (−3.2% after +2.7%)
Output slipped back in the manufacture of “other transport equipment” (−3.9% after +3.8%) and in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi−trailers (−2.4% after +1.4%).
Output decreased in machinery and equipment goods (−2.2% after a virtual stability)
Output decreased in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (−4.4% after +2.5%) and in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (−1.8% after −2.8%). On the other hand, it kept increasing in the manufacture of electrical equipment (+1.0% after +0.5%).
Output dropped in petroleum and refined products (−8.8% after −0.9%)
