Control of establishments by decision centres Île-de-France the focus of relationships network
The relationships between decision centres and establishments can be used to rank the regions. Half of the jobs in the productive sphere depend on a decision centre outside the labour market area. The Île-de-France region is at the heart of this relationships network. Its labour market areas maintain privileged links with foreign countries, reflecting the rôle of the Greater Paris suburbs as a 'global city'. They are also at the heart of a radial network characterised by strong but asymmetrical relationships between the Île-de-France region and metropolitan areas. The links between provincial metropolitan areas are weaker and don't have such a structuring role. Nonetheless, the most important metropolitan areas maintain privileged relationships with neighbouring labour market areas.
