In 2016 in France, 1.8 million jobs in foreign controlled enterprises

In 2016, foreign multinational enterprise groups employed 1.8 million people in France, excluding the agricultural and financial sectors. These jobs are concentrated mainly in intermediate-sized enterprises as well as in industry and trade. Average personnel costs per head are higher in foreign-controlled enterprises than in French-controlled enterprises.

In France, enterprises under foreign control make 16% of the total value added of all non-agricultural and non-financial market sectors. They invest less than French multinational enterprise groups.
