2019- n° 112In April 2019, consumer prices increased by 1.2% year on year Consumer price index - provisional results - April 2019
These provisional results are only preliminary data. Accordingly, they should not be used for contractual revaluations. The indices published here are based on a limited set of price observations and from estimates of some rates of change for fares which are not yet available. The complete results will be published on 15 May 2019.
Over a year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should hardly accelerate in April 2019 (+1.2% after +1.1% in March), according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month. This slight rise in inflation over a year should result from a moderate acceleration in the prices of services as well as a smaller decline in the prices of manufactured goods. Contrariwise, energy prices should slow down. Food prices should rise generally as the same pace as in the previous month.
Over one month, consumer prices should be slower (+0,2% after +0,8% in march). This sharp slowdown is due to the seasonal slowdown of manufactured goods and the less dynamic energy prices this month. Prices for food and services, on the other hand, should rise slightly in April.
Year on year, the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices should hardly accelerate (+1.4% after +1.3% in March). Over one month, it should slow down sharplyby +0.3%, after +0.9% in the previous month.
