In December 2017, the prices of frequently purchased goods in hyper and supermarkets and in large and predominantly food stores were stable over a month after an increase in November (+0.2%).
In December 2017, the prices of frequently purchased goods in hyper and supermarkets and in large and predominantly food stores were stable over a month after an increase in November (+0.2%).
Excluding hyper and supermarkets, prices rose, in December, at the same pace as in November (+0.1%).
Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods remained stable in December after an increase of 0.2% in November.
Year on year, prices slowed down slightly in hyper and supermarkets
Compared with the same month last year, the prices of frequently purchased goods sold in hyper and supermarkets grew a little less fast in December than in November (+0.8% year on year after +0.9%). The same is true in large and predominantly food stores (+0.8% after +0.9% in November).
In the other kinds of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods continued to grow more sharply than in large distributors: they rose by 1.7% year on year after +1.8% in the last three months.
Considering all types of stores, the prices of frequently purchased goods rose by 0.9% as in the previous two months

Stability, over a month, in food prices in hyper and supermarkets
In December 2017, the prices of food (excluding fresh products) sold in hyper and supermarkets were stable after a rebound in November (+0.3%). Year on year, they hardly rose : +1.0% after +1.1% in November.
Their stability over a month came from a slight downturn in meat and beverages prices and a stability in other food product prices.
After a sharp increase in November (+0.4%), meat prices edged down in December (−0.1%). Year on year, they slowed down for the second consecutive month: +1.3% after +1.4%.
The prices of beverages sold in hyper and supermarkets decreased in December (−0.2%) after a slight rise in November (+0.1%). Year on year, the prices grew a little more slightly than in the last four months (+0.4% after +0.5% from August to November).
The prices of other food products (excluding fresh food) were stable in December after a rebound of 0.2% in November. Year on year, their increase was a little stronger than in the previous month (+1.2% after +1.1% in November).
Rebound in the prices of cleaning and personal care products in hyper and supermarkets
The prices of cleaning and personal care products sold in hyper and supermarkets recovered in December (+0.2%) after a downturn in November (−0.2%). Year on year, the prices of these products decreased at the same pace as in the previous month : −0.2%.
