Winter tourist season Positive results, especially in urban areas
In the 2016-2017 winter season, visitor numbers in short-stay tourist accommodation in metropolitan France are up 1.6% year-on-year. In the Île-de-France region, the increase is substantial and exceeds the decline seen a year earlier following the November 2015 terrorist attacks. In the rest of France, however, there is a slump in activity due to the poor skiing season, and despite growth in urban areas. The non-resident clientele grows more than the resident clientele: +4.2% vs. +0.7%.
