Regional gross domestic product from 1990 to 2013
In 2013, the effects of the economic crisis were still taking their toll on the growth of French regions. GDP was virtually back to its pre-crisis level in most regions. This was however not the case in Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Nord-Pas-de-Calais-Picardie. Regional differences were explained by the presence of sectors with high labour productivity. Labour force participation rates also contributed to these regional differences.
