Insee PremièreMen and women: regional perspectives on equality

Audrey Baillot et Stéphanie Michel, pôle Emploi-population, Insee

Overall in France, girls do better academically, men more often have a job in line with their qualification level, and women take more public transport to get to work ... These differences between men and women vary in magnitude from one region to another. Girls and boys have the most similar school results in Brittany. Labour market disparities are smallest in the Île-de-France region, except in terms of compensation. Conversely, in the overseas departments, wage differences between men and women are much smaller than in Metropolitan France, but unemployment rates differ more. No region has smaller deviations than the average in all areas.
