Market services : Report for services accounts committee - December 2011
During the first half of 2011, mainly market services gain nearly 80.000 jobs. At the end of 2010, they had recovered the level of employment reached first quarter of 2008, before crisis starting point. During the crisis, the extent of the fall of market services activity has been absolutely new. In 2009, sales of market services contracted sharply (- 4.5%). Previous major recessions, in 1975 and 1993, had only slow down an uninterrupted growth since 1949. In 2009, services to businesses were more penalised by the decrease of corporate demand, when services to households held almost steady the level of their sales.
