Energy consumption in industry from 2005 to 2012: the volume decreased, the bill increased
In industry, non-fuel energy consumption decreased by 18% between 2005 and 2012, slightly more than the output. However, energy costs increased sharply (+ 27% in current euros), due to higher energy prices. In 2012, gross energy consumption totalled 34.2 million tonnes of oil equivalent, and the energy bill was 15.3 billion euros. Electricity and gas were jointly the most consumed energy.
