In 2012, 90% of sorted industrial waste was recovered
In 2012, establishments with 10 or more employees in the manufacturing industry generated 20 million tons of non-hazardous, non-mineral waste, including 11 million tons of ordinary waste and 9 million tons of sludge and organic waste. Over 80% of ordinary waste was sorted. As soon as ordinary waste was sorted, it was directly recycled or recovered in 90% of cases. Conversely, only 30% of mixed waste was recovered. Between 2008 and 2012, ordinary waste in the manufacturing industry decreased by 30%, due primarily to the recovery of wood energy and a drop in production.
