Roselyne Kerjosse et Christine Pinel, Département de l’Emploi et des revenus d’activité, Insee

In 2011, the full-time equivalent (FTE) monthly wage of a person working in the private sector or in a public enterprise was, on average, €2830 gross and €2130 net after all deductions at source. The net wage rose by 2.3% in current euros against 2010. Taking inflation into account (+ 2.1% in 2011), the average net wage in constant euros progressed only very slightly, slowing for the second consecutive year: + 0.2% in 2011, after + 0.5% in 2010 and + 1.2% in 2009. The growth levels observed are close to the wage hierarchy as a whole for 2011. The FTE wage gap between men and women has narrowed a little since 2008, but is still higher than 19%.
