Outdoor accommodation occupancy survey
The outdoor accommodation occupancy survey aims to analyse the occupancy of campsites in France, both in terms of volume and the structure of the clientele, including the geographical structure.
It also provides exhaustive knowledge of the stock (including classified campsites that do not offer any short-stay pitches) and of the occupancy of short-stay pitches only, intended for a tourist clientele, as opposed to pitches for yearly rental intended for more residential purposes.
In 2006, the remediation method was revised to better address non-response. Introduction
of a nomenclature of the countries of origin of foreign tourists.
In 2011, setting up the new Atout France ranking, from 1 to 5 stars.
In 2013, revision of the recovery method to take account of the new geographical stratification
(National Tourist Spaces).
In 2014, taking into account the new Atout France ranking. Data have been re-projected
since 2010.
In 2017, the survey was extended in April throughout the territory of metropolitan
France. To allow comparisons over time, the overnight stays from April 2010 to 2016
in mainland France and in the regions were estimated. The annual total for the years
2010 to 2016 has also been recalculated to take into account the month of April.
