Annual financial lease survey

The annual financial lease survey measures the breakdown of financial lease contracts by institutional sector and sector of activity, knowledge of which is necessary for the economic analysis of company accounts.

To prepare the national accounts data, the breakdown by institutional sector, in particular by general government sub-sector, is performed on the basis of the annual financial lease survey.

The survey was created in 1966 to gain an understanding of a type of financing that was new at the time. Financial leasing gained a legal status with Law n°66-455 of 2 July 1966 and Ruling n°67-837 of 28 September 1967.

The survey was overhauled in 1998. Restructuring of the questionnaire was carried out by the INSEE in consultation with the French Association of Financial Enterprises (ASF).

The new questionnaire was also tested on ten or so professionals.
