A professional certificate is issued by a relevant authority after having ensured that the participant has acquired knowledge and/or skills following an assessment.
Allowing for a better recognition and visibility of skills on the labour market, professional certificates play an important role in securing professional pathways.
Professional certificates encompass vocational diplomas and vocational titles, certificates defined by social partners at a sector-based level (CQP) and "skill sets" which all are included in the French national register for professional certificates, or in the national register for specific certificates.
Professional certificates are not to be mixed up with concepts like training or qualification.
