Définition
The public research sector includes entities that carry out or finance research and experimental development (R&D) for the government, higher education institutions or non-profit institutions (associations and foundations).
More specifically, the public research sector includes entities that carry out or fund research works :
- for the Government sector : government departments (including the Ministry of Defence), public research bodies (public institutions with a scientific and technical vocation and public industrial and commercial institutions) and other public institutions ;
- for the Higher education sector : public higher education and research institutions under administrative supervision by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (in particular universities), other - public or private - higher education and research institutions not under simple administrative supervision by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, university hospitals and cancer treatment centres ;
- for the Private non-profit sector : associations and foundations.
