The turnover indices for retail and personnel service enterprises allow us to monitor monthly developments in the volume of business conducted by companies working in the relevant sectors. These indices are drawn up every month on the basis of monthly declarations made by businesses covered by the standard tax system for VAT payment, and are calculated by deflating the value of the turnover indices by the corresponding price index.
These indices are defined at the finest level of the French classification of activities (at the sub-class level of the second revision of the classification scheme) then collated to give indices corresponding to the different levels of the various composite classifications (NA, NACE). The series are published raw or seasonally and calendar-effect adjusted.
