Définition
A rural municipality is a thinly populated municipality in the sense of the 3-level municipal degree of urbanisation. Densely populated and intermediate density
municipalities are called urban.
Remarque
This definition of rural municipalities replaces since November 2020 a definition based on urban units, which considered rural municipalities as those not belonging to an urban unit.
