An international urban unit is an urban unit, in the sense of usual definition, which extends on both sides of a national border. A part of the municipalities which compose an international urban unit are situated in France, another part in a foreign country. In data relative to the size of the urban unit and its population only the municipalities of the French part are taken into account.
