Définition

Courts pronouncing a prison sentence of a duration of 5 years or more may order its enforcement to be suspended and that the person should be placed on probation for a period of time to be set by the court (from 18 months to 3 years).

During the probation period, any conviction for a new offence or any failure to comply with the control measures and the probation measures result in the probation being revoked.

The main obligations are the exercising of a professional activity, the fixing of a place of residence in a set location, submitting to medical examination, treatment or care measures, remedy of the damage caused by the offence, and a contribution to family costs and the payment of maintenance.
