Définitions

Définition

The labour force in the sense of the population census includes persons who declare to :

  • exercise a profession (salaried or not), even part-time ;
  • help a person in their work (even unpaid) ;
  • be apprentices, paid interns, etc ;
  • be unemployed and looking for a job or exercising a reduced activity;
  • be a student or retired but be employed ;
  • be national servicemen (when that situation existed).

This population corresponds to the occupied working population to whom are added the unemployed and looking for a job and the national servicemen when that situation existed.

Remarque

Those people who, although they declare themselves to be unemployed state that they are not looking for work, are not included. This is what distinguishes this definition of the labour force as used in the population census from the definition of spontaneous (or self-declared) labour force used previously.
