Définition
The couple in a household is a set composed of two persons of 14 years or more, who share the same principal residence and meet at least one of the following criteria: they declare both live in couple or being married, live under civil unions or common-law. The couples thus formed from the responses to the census questionnaire are de facto couples.
This definition is used in some statistical analyzes of the census to study the composition of families within a housing, including families with child(ren).
