Définition

The intermunicipal authority allows municipalities to join together within a public establishment, either to provide certain services (household waste collection, public transport, etc.) or to elaborate economic development or planning projects. Since the Law of 1999, municipalities may not join more than one intermunicipal cooperation establishment with its own tax system.

Remarque

Unlike territorial authorities, intermunicipal authorities have only limited powers.
