Définition
The household reference person is determined from the family structure of the household and the characteristics of the component persons.
More often than not, it is the family reference person when there is one, or the oldest man, with priority to the oldest active person.
Remarque
Since 2004, the Insee adopted in the great majority of its the households surveys a new definition of the household reference person, which does not take into account the sex of the persons composing this household. Only import the fact of bringing or not resources to the household, the fact of being active or not, and the age.
