Définition

According to the French Observatory for Drugs and Addiction, drug use can be classed in several different ways:

  • Experimentation: at least one instance of use in a lifetime (this indicator serves principally as a measure of the level of circulation of a product within a population);
  • Occasional use: at least one instance of use in the course of a year (for tobacco, this category includes people who acknowledge that they smoke, even if only occasionally);
  • Regular use: at least three instances of consumption of alcohol per week, smoking every day, use of sleeping pills or tranquilisers over the course of the week, 10 instances of consumption of cannabis over the course of the month;
  • Everyday use
