Définition

The apparent expectation of working life for a year is the sum of the activity rates observed at each age in the year in question. This indicator provides an overview of the year's working activity, irrespective of demographic structure: it represents the activity of an imaginary generation with the same behaviour at each age as that observed in the year in question. This indicator does not take account of any deaths that might occur during the period of activity, hence the adjective "apparent".
