Improving the quality of the French national accounts

The aim of this project is to improve the quality of the French National Accounts, in particular the balance sheet. The balance sheet gives a picture of all the assets and liabilities held by the various economic players, particularly a non-financial assets breakdown. The French National Accounts Department wishes to overhaul its ageing balance sheet production process in order to incorporate the new data sources available (both surveys and administrative data) and also to anticipate future user demands relating to wealth distribution and ecological issues. This overhaul will be carried out in a structured manner, with phases of analysis, design, coding and evaluation of the results obtained. In addition, the National Accounts Department wishes to produce SIUOTS matrices at a more detailed level.

This level of detail will facilitate international comparisons and will feed into carbon footprint calculations. This improvement requires measured changes to the production tool.
