Families in France in 2020: 25% single-parent families, 21% large families
In France, in 2020, 8.0 million families have at least one minor child at home. One in four of these families is a single-parent family, up from 2011. These families most often have only one child at home, but more often live in overcrowded accommodation. They are also more often poor than other families.
Blended families (9% of families) are the largest: four out of ten live with three or more children at home.
“Traditional” families remain the most common family configuration (66%), although their share is decreasing.
