Across all of the tourist accommodation in mainland France, the number of nights spent by tourists during the 2018-2019 winter season fell by 2.1% when compared with winter 2017-2018.

Having increased significantly during the previous two winters, the number of nights spent in the Île-de-France fell by 3.4%. Fewer tourists, both domestic and particularly international, visited Paris and the surrounding area.

The number of nights spent in the provinces has also stalled. The ski resorts experienced a marked downturn. Tourist activity remains heavily focused on the coast and in the urban areas of the provinces, thanks to domestic tourists.
