Marylise Michel, direction régionale des Hauts-de-France, Insee

Loss of autonomy affects 6.3% of seniors living at home. This share rises to 14.1% among those ages 75 and over. It varies from one region to another, regardless of age differences within the senior population. The regions in which older people experience the most social difficulties (Corsica, Hauts-de-France, Occitanie, overseas departments and regions) are those where they live most often at home and where situations of loss of autonomy at home are the most frequent.
