In November 2017, output slipped back in the manufacturing industry (−1.0%) after a strong increase in October (+2.5%). It fell more slightly in the whole industry (−0.5% after +1.7%).

- Output picked up in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+1.9% after −3.2%)
Please note: in accordance with European directives, the industrial production indices will use 2015 as base year from the publication of the indices of January 2018, due on March 9, 2018. From that publication, the industrial production indices will also switch from a fixed base index to an annual chained-linked index.
In November 2017, output slipped back in the manufacturing industry (−1.0%) after a strong increase in October (+2.5%). It fell more slightly in the whole industry (−0.5% after +1.7%).
Manufacturing output increased sharply over the last three months (+2.1%)
Despite the fall in November, output increased sharply over the last three months in the manufacturing industry (+2.1%) as well as in the overall industry (+2.0%).
Output went up strongly in “other manufacturing” (+2.5%), in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+2.7%), in the manufacture of transport equipment (+2.8%), and in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (+1.3%). Conversely, it decreased slightly in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.2%) and more markedly in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−3.1%).
Over a year, manufacturing output grew strongly (+4.4%)
Manufacturing output of the last three months grew strongly compared to the same months of 2016 (+4.4%), as well as in the whole industry (+3.8%).
Over a year, output rose sharply in “other manufacturing” (+4.5%). It soared in the manufacture of transport equipment (+9.0%). It grew strongly in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods (+5.3%). On the contrary, it diminished in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply (−0.4%). It went down sharply in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (−5.1%). It was virtually stable in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.1%).

In November, output fell back markedly in “other manufacturing” (−1.3% after +2.4%)
Output slipped back sharply in chemicals (−4.0%), in pharmaceuticals (−2.3%), in “other manufacturing” (−1.2%), and more moderately in the manufacture of rubber and plastics products and other non-metallic mineral products (−0.7%) and in wood, paper and printing industries (−0.6%). Conversely, it went up in textiles, wearing apparel, leather and related products (+1.9%) and was virtually stable in the manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products.
Output slipped back sharply in machinery and equipment goods (−3.7% after +6.3%)
Output slipped back markedly in the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (−7.3%). It also declined in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (−1.4%) and in the manufacture of electrical equipment (−0.5%).
Output decreased in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.7% after +0.1%)
Output decreased in the manufacture of food products and beverages (−0.7% after +0.1%), due to a drop in the manufacture of dairy products and in the manufacture of other food products.
Output bounced back in mining and quarrying; energy; water supply (+3.1% after −3.6%)
Output recovered sharply in electricity, gas (+3.8% after −5.4%) in the aftermath of a drop in October due to milder than usual temperatures.
Output accelerated in the manufacture of transport equipment (+3.2% after +1.6%)
Output soared in the manufacture of other transport equipment (+8.1% after −1.1%). By contrast, it slipped back in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (−2.3% after +4.7%).
Output picked up in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+1.9% after −3.2%)
Output bounced back in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+1.9%) after a fall in October (−3.2%).
