Panel Data Estimates of the Costs of Agricultural Production Costs

Sylvain BILLOT

The current model for estimating of agricultural production costs has a long history. It aims to overcome the lack of cost accounting system which would provide a breakdown of production costs for each of the productions made by farms. It allows for breaking down costs into different product through cross-sectional estimations made for each year. The aim of this paper is to enrich the existing model by using panel data from the FADN (Farm Accountancy Data Network). We will test several methods of estimation, which will allow us to retain Mundlak's model. In addition, we enriched the model by constructing an additional variable : global productivity, which is a composite indicator of the productive performance of farms.
