French multinational groups in 2012. Increasingly present outside the European Union
In 2012 French multinational groups (excluding the banking sector) controlled 37,900 foreign subsidiaries. These subsidiaries accounted for 54% of their consolidated turnover and 56% of their workforce, or 5.3 million employees. Large groups had more than 80% of this workforce. In subsidiaries located outside the European Union (EU), workforces increased by nearly 10% compared to the previous year, while those in subsidiaries in EU countries remained stable.
