Définition
A person is eligible for Unemployment Insurance (UI) if they have submitted a claim for benefits, which has been accepted. They are eligible for UI at the end of the month if they are eligible for UI on the last day of the month. While eligible for UI a person may not receive benefits (working while unemployed, waiting period, sanction, etc.).
To be eligible for UI benefits, a person must be registered with France Travail, be involuntarily unemployed, have worked for at least 6 months over the last 24 months (36 months for those aged 53 or over), be effectively and permanently seeking for a job, not have reached the legal retirement age and be a French resident.
