Définition

Indicator estimating the quantity of material mobilised to satisfy the consumption in the broad sense (goods, services, use of infrastructure) of an individual, a population, a territory or an activity, regardless of where these goods and services are produced (domestic production or imports).

This indicator captures all the raw materials mobilized to meet the needs of a country's population: food, housing, clothing, transport and other goods and services. This footprint accounts for materials extracted both within and outside France, but intended to meet the needs of the population residing in France.
