Définition
The employment situation of sailors is measured by the number of sailors of all nationalities registered on the crew list for at least one day in the course of the year on the fishing boats listed on the French Fleet Register. The data relating to numbers of sailors, by type of fishery (deep-sea fishing, middle-water fishing, coastal fishing, etc.), are collected by the Department of Maritime Affairs.
