Indices of services production provide a short-term indication of monthly changes in activity in the market services. As such, they are a primary information to monitor the business cycle in France. They fall under European Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 (EBS-regulation).

Indices of services production are calculated thanks to administrative data, the CA3 declaration (https://www.impots.gouv.fr/formulaire/3310-ca3-sd/tva-et-taxes-assimilees-regime-du-reel-normal-mini-reel), a form which enterprises must fill in monthly or quarterly for the payment of VAT, combined with price indices, in order to get volume indices.
